Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has faced a significant setback. On Tuesday, three MLAs from the Congress and RJD switched sides, with discussions underway for Congress MLAs Siddharth Saurabh and Murari Gautam to join the BJP. During the Assembly budget session, both had aligned with the ruling party. Additionally, RJD MLA Sangita Devi has also joined the power bloc. Samrat Choudhary, leader of the ruling party, welcomed the three leaders to the House amid applause.
Congress-RJD Trio Joins BJP:
It is reported that all three leaders have joined the BJP. Murari Gautam, a Congress MLA from Chennari Assembly in Rohtas district, had previously served as the Panchayati Raj Minister in the Mahagathbandhan government. Siddharth Saurabh is a Vikram MLA. Prior to this, three RJD MLAs in Bihar had switched sides during the floor test, moving to JDU. This development is seen as a significant blow to the Mahagathbandhan in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
