Mumbai: Bajaj Auto, a leading two and three-wheeler manufacturer, reported robust sales for the month of December 2023, recording a 16% growth compared to the same period in 2022. The company’s total sales reached 3,26,806 units, showcasing positive momentum.
In the domestic market, Bajaj Auto witnessed a remarkable 28% increase in sales, totaling 1,90,919 units compared to 1,48,583 units in December 2022. Meanwhile, the company’s exports showed a 2% growth, reaching 1,35,887 units compared to 1,32,931 units in the corresponding period last year.
The two-wheeler segment contributed significantly to the overall performance, with total wholesales reaching 2,83,001 units, reflecting a 15% increase from 2,47,052 units in the same month the previous year. Domestic sales of two-wheelers grew by 26%, reaching 1,58,370 units, while exports showed a 3% YoY increase, totaling 1,24,631 units.
In the commercial vehicle category, Bajaj Auto experienced a substantial 27% surge in sales, reaching 43,805 units compared to 34,462 units in December 2022. The growth was primarily driven by a 41% increase in domestic sales, totaling 32,549 units. However, exports of commercial vehicles declined by 2% YoY, amounting to 11,256 units.
For the entire year 2023, Bajaj Auto’s total sales exhibited a 7% growth, reaching 32,82,357 units compared to 30,68,129 units in 2022. The domestic wholesale for the year witnessed a significant spike of 29%, totaling 20,57,393 vehicles, while exports for the year declined by 17% YoY, amounting to 12,24,964 units.
Bajaj Auto’s shares have demonstrated remarkable performance, rallying over 33% in the past three months and achieving an impressive 86% growth over the past year. At the latest market update, Bajaj Auto shares were trading at ₹6,769.30 apiece on the BSE, showing a marginal decrease of 0.47%.
