In a significant development, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given final approval for two railway line projects in Jamui district, which are expected to boost the region’s development significantly. This announcement has brought immense joy to the residents of the district.
Connecting the Entire District by Rail
The new railway lines will ensure that the entire district is well-connected by rail, enabling residents to travel comfortably to different parts of the country. This connectivity will not only facilitate easier travel but also promote economic growth and development in the region. The project involves laying a 137-kilometer-long railway line from Lakshmipur to Nawada at a cost of ₹3120 crore.
A Long-Awaited Dream
Efforts to get these railway lines approved date back to 2002, when former Union Minister of State for Railways, the late Digvijay Singh, presented the demand to the central government. The survey for the project began during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister in 2008. However, due to various hurdles, the project remained in limbo.
Swift Implementation Expected
The residents of the region will soon be able to enjoy rail travel near their homes. The central government has also approved the construction of a 20-kilometer railway line from Jhajha to Batia, with a budget allocation of ₹496 crore. The Railway Ministry will oversee funding for the entire project and take concrete steps to ensure its timely execution. Land acquisition and obtaining no-objection certificates from relevant departments will be prioritized to expedite the construction.
This railway line will connect Lakshmipur, Barhat, Sikandra, and Aliganj, providing these areas with much-needed rail connectivity. The successful completion of these projects will mark a new era of economic progress for the district.
