A grave incident of negligence by private ambulance operators and drivers has come to light in Bihar. While en route from Sitamarhi to Patna for referral, the oxygen cylinder in the ambulance ran out of oxygen midway. As a result, the child being transported succumbed to death upon reaching Patna at a private hospital.
Father Lodges Complaint
Prahlad Kumar Jha, a resident of Sahaspur village in the Jale police station area of Darbhanga district, lodged a complaint at the Nagarnath police station late Tuesday evening. The primary complaint implicates the driver of the private ambulance. It was reported that upon the deteriorating condition of the child, the ambulance was dispatched to Patna.
Oxygen Depleted Mid-Journey
Upon crossing halfway, the driver informed that there was no oxygen in the vehicle. Consequently, the ambulance could not proceed further. Another ambulance was arranged, causing a significant delay. The child was eventually admitted to a private hospital in Patna. Following examination, the doctors declared the child dead. The ambulance driver stated that ambulances are dispatched with all necessary arrangements, and the lack of oxygen constitutes negligence on his part.
Statement by Station Officer
Nagarnath Station Officer Vinay Pratap Singh stated that the ambulance, which was used to refer the child, was found to have run out of oxygen midway. The father of the child has filed a primary complaint in this matter. Stringent legal action will be taken in this case.
