Patna, Bihar: Terrorists fatally shot a young man from Bihar in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening. The victim has been identified as Raja Shah. The attackers fired at Raja Shah from close range in Jablipora area of Bijbehara. He sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. According to media reports, Raja Shah was hit by two bullets. The police have cordoned off the entire area and initiated a search operation. This incident took place in the Anantnag parliamentary constituency, where the third phase of polling is scheduled for May 7.
Two Suspected Terrorists Arrested
Despite heightened security measures due to the elections, terrorists carried out the attack. Following the incident, two suspected terrorists were apprehended from Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. Weapons and explosives were recovered from them. The army has deployed extra forces, and a joint operation has been launched in Naina and Bijbehara areas of Anantnag. During this operation, two individuals were arrested with a firearm, a hand grenade, and explosives.
The Victim’s Identity and Response from Leaders
According to the information provided by the administration, the deceased, identified as Raja Shah, was a resident of Bihar. He was shot in the Jablipora area of Bijbehara. He sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and abdomen. Upon hearing the gunshots, people rushed to the spot and informed the police. The police immediately arrived at the scene, and Raja Shah was taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The family of Raja Shah has been informed, and arrangements are being made to transport his body to Bihar.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad, expressed grief over the tragic incident. He condemned the brutal attack in Bijbehara, where Raja Shah, a non-local, lost his life in this heinous act of violence. Such incidents must end. People want peace, but terrorists do not. We need to stand united against such acts. Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the senseless act of violence and expressed deep condolences to the family. Meanwhile, Farooq Abdullah mourned the death of Raja Shah and strongly denounced the attack, stating that after the shooting of a laborer from Bihar, peace was shattered. Farooq Abdullah emphasized that such acts of terrorism hinder peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
