The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its election manifesto for Sikkim on Thursday, pledging to safeguard the rights of the people and transform the Himalayan state into an educational hub. The manifesto, comprising 74 pages, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to protecting the essence of Article 371F.

BJP President JP Nadda, along with party leaders Dilip Jayaswal and DR Thapa, issued the manifesto for the Sikkim Legislative Assembly in the presence of various party officials.

“It’s time to connect with the mainstream in Sikkim. There are many regional parties in Sikkim. We must bid farewell to regionalism and corruption,” stated Nadda after the manifesto’s release. He emphasized BJP’s vision for a people-centric, progressive, and development-oriented government in Sikkim.

Nadda further expressed the party’s aspiration for the growth of the lotus (BJP’s symbol) even in the mountains. He ensured that every resident of Sikkim would benefit from the initiatives and policies outlined in the manifesto, aimed at direct development for the people.

BJP to Contest Solo in Sikkim Elections

The BJP will contest all 32 seats in the Sikkim Legislative Assembly independently. The party had announced its first list of 14 candidates on March 24, followed by a second list of nine candidates on March 26. The elections are scheduled for April 19, with voting taking place in a single phase and results expected on June 2.

SDPF Also Issues Manifesto

The Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) had released its manifesto on Sunday, April 7. The manifesto promises 50% reservation for women in government jobs and higher education for all sections of society in the state. Opposition leader of SDF, Pawan Kumar Chamling, stated that the party’s commitment to providing 50% reservation to women in jobs and higher education aims to empower half of the population.
