New Delhi: The voting for the seventh and final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has concluded. Exit poll results are starting to come in. The elections began on April 19 and ended on June 1, with results expected on June 4.
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are particularly significant. On one side is the NDA, and on the other, the ‘INDIA’ alliance. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi and NDA leaders have claimed a victory of over 400 seats, leaders of the ‘INDIA’ alliance assert that the Modi government will be ousted, projecting themselves to win more than 295 seats. Before the results on June 4, exit poll data presented on June 1 gives us a glimpse of which party is likely to form the central government. Will PM Modi secure a third term, or will the ‘INDIA’ alliance prevail? The fate of 8,360 candidates contesting for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be decided on June 4.
Exit Poll Predictions:
According to Matrize, the NDA is expected to win 359 seats, the ‘INDIA’ alliance 154 seats, and others 30 seats.
In Karnataka, according to India Today Axis My India:
– BJP+ is projected to win 20-22 seats.
– Congress is expected to get 3-5 seats.
– JD(S) is forecasted to secure 3 seats.
In Tamil Nadu, India Today Axis My India shows:
– BJP+ with 2-4 seats.
– ‘INDIA’ alliance with 13-15 seats.
– DMK with 20-22 seats.
– AIADMK with 0-2 seats.
News 18 Poll Hub suggests that in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the ‘INDIA’ alliance could win 36-39 seats.
Exit Poll Participation by ‘INDIA’ Alliance Leaders:
Before the final phase of voting, leaders of the ‘INDIA’ alliance met at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence. Post-meeting, Kharge claimed that their alliance would secure at least 295 seats. He also mentioned that alliance leaders would participate in exit poll debates, reversing a previous decision to abstain from such discussions.
Strategic Discussions Ahead of Vote Counting:
On Saturday, leaders of the ‘INDIAN National Developmental Inclusive Alliance’ (INDIA) had an informal meeting to discuss strategies and preparations related to vote counting. Key attendees included Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, Farooq Abdullah, and Akhilesh Yadav. Notably, the Trinamool Congress and the People’s Democratic Party did not participate in this meeting.
2019 Lok Sabha Election Exit Poll Results:
Most exit polls in 2019 predicted the return of the Modi government. India Today Axis My India gave NDA 339-365 seats and Congress 77-108 seats. Times Now-VMR predicted 306 seats for NDA and 132 for Congress. CVOTER projected 287 seats for NDA and 128 for Congress. ABP Nielsen forecasted 277 seats for NDA and 130 for Congress. India Today E-Chunav predicted 326 seats for NDA and 112 for Congress.
2019 Election Results Recap:
The NDA won a resounding victory in 2019, securing 353 seats, with the BJP alone winning 303 seats out of 543. The opposition managed to secure only 91 seats.
