A sudden fire erupted in a DP box on an electricity pole on Sonarpatti Road on Saturday afternoon, causing chaos among local shopkeepers.
Witnessing flames coming from the cable, shopkeepers quickly alerted the electricity department. Electrical workers arrived promptly and extinguished the fire by shutting off the power supply.
The primary causes of such fires are often open DP boxes, loose connections, and poor-quality cables.
Electricity workers noted that increased use of ACs and coolers in homes and businesses to combat the humid heat significantly raises the load on the DP boxes, leading to overheating and fires. Residents remain concerned about the frequent fire incidents, as similar fires have recently occurred on Main Road and Muslim Road.
