FRANKFURT: In a targeted operation, Germany initiated raids on the residences of individuals associated with alleged Hamas and Samidoun, two Palestinian organizations recently banned in the country. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser stated that the actions were taken in response to the ban on Hamas and Samidoun in Germany, emphasizing the nation’s stance against any form of support or apology for Hamas.
The interior ministry confirmed the execution of raids on 15 properties since 6 am (local time) following court orders in four regions. Germany officially banned Hamas and Samidoun on November 2. It is estimated that there are approximately 450 Hamas members in the country.
While Hamas members have not engaged in violent activities within Germany, the ministry highlighted their attempts to raise funds for the organization abroad and influence social and political discourse in the country. In the case of Samidoun, the organization is accused of denying the right of Israel to exist.
