The scorching heatwave in Bihar has taken a severe toll on school children and teachers alike, with temperatures soaring well above 45 degrees Celsius in several districts. Reports have emerged of students collapsing and fainting due to the extreme heat, with some even experiencing vomiting and diarrhea during class hours. Incidents have been reported from various schools across the state, including Banka, where both students and kitchen staff have been affected.

In Banka, amidst the blistering heat, several students and kitchen staff members suffered health complications. In UMS Lalvamor Shambhuganj, a kitchen staff member fainted due to the heat. At different schools like Madhya Vidyalaya Baidpur and Madhya Vidyalaya Mirjapur, students fell ill due to the oppressive heat. In Primary School Leelagoda of Sadar block, a student fainted, while another student, Ayush Kumar of NP Singh Kakhna, complained of bleeding from the nose. In various schools across Belhar block, two students fainted and were rushed to the Belhar Community Health Center for treatment.

Even students appearing for exams were not spared, with two girls from LNDE Project Girls’ High School in Baunsi suddenly falling ill during their class 9 exams due to heat-related nausea, eventually losing consciousness. Teachers promptly administered first aid, but the girls had to be sent home after informing their parents.

The heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 47 degrees Celsius in Aurangabad, has led to widespread health issues among students and teachers. Several students collapsed in schools across Patna and other districts, while cases of fainting were reported in Gaya as well. In Aurangabad and Sheikhpura, many students fell ill within school premises, highlighting the urgent need for measures to mitigate the impact of the heatwave on educational institutions.
