On Tuesday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) revealed that tickets for the Men’s ODI World Cup, set to kick off in Ahmedabad, India, on October 5, will be available for purchase starting from August 25. The tournament will witness India’s opening match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai, followed by the highly anticipated clash against archrivals Pakistan on October 14 in Ahmedabad.
Fans eager to secure their seats for these thrilling encounters, however, will need to exercise patience. According to the Times of India, ticket sales will be carried out systematically in different phases.
Originally, the fixtures for the 50-over World Cup were unveiled in June, albeit after some delay caused by Pakistan’s initial reluctance to travel to India. However, on August 9, just two months before the tournament’s commencement, the schedule underwent revisions after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acknowledged foreign teams’ requests for changes.
In light of these adjustments, the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad will now host the much-anticipated Pakistan vs. India match on October 14 instead of the previously scheduled October 15. Other alterations include advancing Pakistan’s match against Sri Lanka to October 10 and rescheduling Australia’s encounter with South Africa in Lucknow for October 12, instead of the following day.
Furthermore, England will face Afghanistan in Delhi on October 15, a date that has been shifted from the original schedule. Similarly, New Zealand’s game against Bangladesh, initially planned as a day match on October 14 in Chennai, will now take place on October 13 as a day-night contest.
The ICC has initiated online registration for fans to secure their tickets. As per the Times of India report, ticket sales for the semifinals and finals of the tournament are slated to commence on September 15, allowing cricket enthusiasts to secure their spots for the culmination of this prestigious event.
