Demand for Canada’s Parents/Grandparents program exceeds admissible target
The Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reports a surge in demand for sponsoring Parents & Grandparents, surpassing the admissible target. With an inventory of nearly 100,000 persons and processing times increasing, the 2023-25 levels plan allocates 28,500 admissions for parents and grandparents in 2023, growing to 34,000 and 36,000 in subsequent years. New applications in 2023 may face a lengthy waiting period of two to three years.
Ireland amends rules about Stamp 4 support letters
Effective November 30, 2023, Ireland’s Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment stops accepting applications for Stamp 4 support letters. This impacts Critical Skills Employment Permit holders, Researchers, and NCHD Multi-Site General Employment Permit holders seeking a transfer to Stamp 4 Immigration permission. Applications received before November 30 will continue processing. Renewal applications require specific documentation, including passport copies, IRP card, employment permits, payslips, and employer confirmation.
