Chandigarh :The 7th Military Literature Festival reached its culmination on Sunday, with Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit leading the closing ceremony. The event, a collaborative effort of the Punjab government, Chandigarh administration, and Western Command Headquarters at Chandimandir, honored the martyrs of the 1947-48 Indo-Pak war.
Governor Purohit, in his address, emphasized the festival’s role as a platform to remember the heroic stories of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
This year’s festival dedicated special sessions to topics like the Israel-Hamas war, featuring discussions on diplomatic and military lessons for India. Speakers included Israeli defense forces veteran Rafi Sella, associated with the design and manufacture of the Merkava tank, and noted editor and history enthusiast Sushant Sareen.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan highlighted Punjab’s remarkable contribution to the nation’s history, emphasizing the unifying thread of love for the country through respect for the Constitution and the army.
A panel discussion on “China’s strategic culture: Use of force from yellow emperors to red monarch” featured Maj Gen (Dr) GG Dwivedi, Maj Gen (Dr) Mandeep Singh (moderator), and Col Nihar Kunar as panelists.
The concluding session delved into the Battle of Zojila, exploring its significance in opening the Gateway to Ladakh and saving Leh.
