In the wake of the recent assembly elections, former cricketer Venkatesh Prasad took a veiled swipe at the Congress and its allies, attributing their electoral setback to the controversy surrounding the ‘Sanatana Dharma’ remark made by Udaynidhi Stalin. Prasad praised the BJP’s “landslide victory” and commended the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Amit Shah.
Prasad stated, “Abusing Sanatana Dharma was bound to have its consequences. Many congratulations to the BJP for a landslide victory.” He emphasized the alleged negative impact of the Congress’s stance on Sanatana Dharma and acknowledged the BJP’s effective grassroots efforts.
The controversy stemmed from Udaynidhi Stalin’s statement that Sanatana Dharma was against social justice and equality and should be eradicated. The BJP, in response, accused the Congress and its leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of endorsing the attack on Sanatana Dharma.
JP Nadda, the BJP party chief, criticized the INDIA bloc, which includes the Congress, for allowing objectionable comments against any religion. He called for clarity on the constitutional provisions and questioned why hate against Sanatana Dharma was being propagated in the name of love.
As per the latest updates, the BJP seems to be securing a landslide victory in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, and leading in Chhattisgarh. Meanwhile, the Congress faces defeat in Telangana against KCR’s BRS.
