The Indian Railways has unveiled ambitious plans to enhance connectivity in the Seemanchal region of Bihar, bridging gaps between different locales. Historically, areas such as Jogbani and Siliguri, situated near the Nepal border, relied solely on road networks for communication. However, the railway authorities are now set to introduce the Jogbani-Siliguri Express train, marking a significant stride in regional connectivity.
The detailed schedule for the Jogbani-Siliguri Express has been officially released, with expectations pointing towards its operational commencement between February 10 and 15. There are intriguing speculations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi might officiate the inaugural run of the train during a probable visit to Champaran.
This newfound rail connection is poised to bring substantial convenience to the residents of Seemanchal, directly linking regions to key destinations like Purnia, Araria, Farbisganj, and Jogbani.
The Jogbani-Siliguri Express is planned to operate five days a week, serving pivotal stations such as Katihar, Salamari, Birsatganj, and Thakurganj, among others. The departure time from Jogbani is set at 5:15 AM, reaching Katihar by 7:40 AM, and ultimately arriving at Siliguri at 1:35 PM.
On its return journey, the Siliguri-Jogbani Express will depart from Siliguri at 4:55 PM, reach Katihar at 9:25 PM, and finally conclude its journey at Jogbani at midnight, precisely at 12:05 AM. This comprehensive rail network is poised to significantly enhance accessibility and connectivity for the people of Seemanchal, fostering economic and social development in the region.
