New Delhi, DMK leader and Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP misrepresented his recent remarks on ‘Sanatana Dharma.’ Addressing a youth cadre meeting in Karur district, Stalin claimed that his words were twisted, magnified, and distorted, leading to a nationwide controversy.
Stalin responded to the uproar caused by his earlier statement, where he compared Sanatana Dharma to “mosquitoes, dengue, malaria, fever, and corona,” calling for its eradication. He accused PM Modi of misrepresenting his speech during election campaigning in Madhya Pradesh, stating, “They have twisted it, magnified it, and made the whole of India talk about me.”
In September, Udhayanidhi Stalin had called for the eradication of Sanatana Dharma, citing it as “against social justice and equality.” The BJP strongly criticized his remarks, with the party’s IT cell head, Amit Malviya, drawing parallels with Hitler’s views about Jews.
The controversy escalated further as a godman announced a bounty for Stalin’s remarks, leading to a court case. Despite facing backlash and demands for an apology, Stalin maintained his stance, expressing faith in the court proceedings. The Madras High Court criticized him for promoting divisive ideas but noted that legal consequences would be determined.
Stalin doubled down on his position, stating that he would “oppose it forever” and emphasizing his allegiance to the ideologies of his family lineage.
