Jaipur: Rajasthan is grappling with an intense cold wave, with no relief in sight as many places across the state recorded minimum temperatures below normal. Dense fog persisted until late afternoon, affecting visibility and disrupting traffic.
According to the Meteorological Department, Sikar experienced the coldest temperatures at 1 degree Celsius, followed by Fatehpur at 2.8 degrees Celsius. The cold wave also impacted several other regions, including Jaipur, Alwar, and Jaisalmer.
The Met department attributed the extreme weather and persistent fog to active northerly winds and anticipates the cold wave to intensify in the upcoming days. The conditions have disrupted vehicular movement, causing delays on major highways and affecting train schedules.
People in Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Bharatpur, and Udaipur divisions are also experiencing similar challenging weather conditions. The Met office forecasts these conditions to persist until Saturday, with a possibility of mild showers from Sunday, attributed to western disturbances.
