Leaders of various political parties in Parliament convened on Saturday to deliberate on the agenda for the upcoming Winter session, set to commence on Monday, December 4. The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, brought together key figures, including Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, and representatives from Trinamool, NCP, and RSP.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi announced that the Winter Session is scheduled to run from December 4 to December 22, with 15 sittings spread over 19 days, contingent on government business demands. A range of legislative items, including bills and financial matters, is slated for consideration during this session.
During the meeting, Joshi emphasized the government’s readiness to engage in discussions on pertinent issues as per the Rules of Procedure. He sought active cooperation from all party leaders for the smooth functioning of both Houses of Parliament.
In addition to legislative matters, the leaders discussed the evolving global energy landscape, particularly the surge in Indian diesel exports to Europe amid declining supplies from the US and Saudi Arabia. This shift reflects the geopolitical dynamics impacting oil trade alliances.
