Bengaluru, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) state unit president, BY Vijayendra, convened a party meeting in Vijayapura, the hometown of rebel BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal. The meeting, attended by several leaders opposed to Yatnal, took place amid calls for action against the MLA for his comments against senior party figures.
Prominent leaders, including MP Ramesh Jigajinagi, former ministers Murugesh Nirani, SK Bellubbi, Ramesh Bhusanur, Chandrashekhar Kavatagi, Suresh Biradar, and Vijugouda Patil, were present at the gathering.
The meeting follows Yatnal’s recent accusations against former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, alleging massive corruption of ₹40,000 crore during the state’s Covid-19 management under the BJP government. BJP leaders, during a previous meeting, urged Vijayendra to seek disciplinary action against Yatnal.
Vijayendra addressed the allegations, stating that reactions would be considered only if genuine proof is presented. He emphasized the support received from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President JP Nadda, and other central leaders.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah challenged Yatnal to submit proof of corruption during the BJP government’s Covid-19 response. He mentioned the formation of a commission by the Congress government to investigate corruption during the pandemic.
Siddaramaiah assured a thorough probe into corruption cases, including those related to PSI recruitment, based on the evidence provided to the respective commissions.
