In a significant move, Pradeep Kumar Dange, the State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Maharashtra Primary Education Council, has ordered an immediate halt to the salaries of teachers in schools failing to enter required information in the U-DISE Plus online system. This directive applies to all government and aided schools in the state, emphasizing the importance of entering necessary information by November 30.

The Samagra Shiksha Maharashtra Primary Education Council reveals that the annual budgets for the years 2024-25 and 2025-26 will be based on the information regarding physical facilities, and the number of teachers and students in all government and aided schools. This necessitates the collection of relevant information by October 31, a deadline ignored by most schools.

As per the U-DISE Plus online system report, 88% of schools have updated their physical information, 76% have finalized information on teachers, and 71% have completed information on students. However, alarming numbers indicate that 25,788 schools have not even started filling information on teachers, while 12,947 are in the process of filling physical information.

Dange’s circular released on Friday states, “As the information is not being updated by the schools, the salaries of the teachers in the respective schools should not be paid.” The district- and taluka-level pay teams are instructed to certify that schools have updated all information in the U-DISE Plus system.

The possibility of students being deprived of government-provided benefits like free uniforms, textbooks, educational facilities, and scholarships looms large if schools fail to comply. Dange’s order aims to ensure that all information is submitted by November 30, avoiding potential disruptions in annual planning for Samagra Shiksha and the PM Shri Yojana.
