In a show of solidarity with those involved in the Israel-Palestine conflict, various Muslim organizations in Kerala have organized events. Ambassador of Palestine to India, Adnan Abu Alhaija, and the Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Gaza, Dr. Kamlain Shaa’ath, have been invited to a Palestine solidarity convention scheduled to take place in Malappuram under the auspices of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Dr. Nahas Mala, a member of the Jamaat-e-Islami state committee, revealed that the Palestinian ambassador will address the convention virtually. The Gaza University Vice Chancellor had committed to participating online but may be unable to do so given the current escalation of the situation.
With tensions escalating between Israel and Palestine, numerous Muslim organizations in Kerala have declared their support for those fighting in Gaza. The Students Islamic Organisation (SIO), the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, organized a “Hamas square” in Malappuram on Tuesday, with participants shouting slogans in support of Palestine.
Jamaat-e-Islami is planning to conduct solidarity events across Kerala and has called for special prayers on Friday to express support for Palestine and opposition to Zionism. The SIO has also arranged rallies in various parts of Kerala to pledge support for Hamas, forming a “Hamas square” in Malappuram to vocalize support for Palestine.
The Youth League, the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League, will organize an “anti-war ring” in Kozhikode to show solidarity with Palestine. As the conflict intensifies, at least 2,300 people have lost their lives on both sides.
