MYSURU: Extreme-right ideologue Pratap Simmha, a Kannada columnist-turned-politician eyeing a hat-trick in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, faces adversity as one of the Parliament intruders is found with a visitor’s pass issued by Simmha’s office.
The 47-year-old MP, known for his prolific writing and 22 authored books, entered politics in 2014. His victory margin widened in 2019, securing almost 1.4 lakh votes. However, the recent security breach might impact his bid for a third consecutive win in 2024.
Simmha, who claims to be the first to write a biography of PM Narendra Modi in 2008, faces strain in party relations and hopes his RSS ideology image will secure him a ticket. Despite controversies surrounding his attacks on Tipu Sultan, the security breach is an unexpected political curveball.
In an attempt to improve his political fortunes, Simmha recently changed his name from ‘Prathap Simha’ to ‘Pratap Simmha’. Whether this move will turn the tide in his favor remains to be seen.
