Nawada, Bihar, Frustrated by the irregular electricity supply, residents of Hisua surrounded the local power substation on Thursday night, demanding consistent and better power provision. The crowd voiced strong protests against the electricity department officials, highlighting frequent power cuts, especially at night.
The youth, mobilized through social media, gathered locals and converged on the substation. They expressed anger over the inadequate power supply, which has disrupted education, water supply, and the functioning of household appliances such as TVs and refrigerators.

The youth successfully used social media to organize the protest, underscoring the widespread dissatisfaction with the erratic electricity supply in the area.
Electricity Department’s Response
In response to the mounting pressure, the electricity department released contact numbers for linemen and electricians to assist consumers facing electrical faults. Electricity SDO Vinod Kumar Choudhary urged residents to report issues directly to the provided numbers. He mentioned that four personnel have been assigned to maintain and resolve problems with HT and LT lines within the Hisua block.
Power Supply Issues
Officials explained that the Hisua area requires 21-22 MW of power, but currently only receives 8-9 MW. This significant shortfall has led to frequent power disruptions. The youth criticized local leaders and public representatives, accusing them of neglecting the issue for years and merely making empty promises and statements about improving electricity supply.
Call for Action
The protestors called for immediate action and accountability from both the electricity department and local leaders to resolve the ongoing power supply issues and improve the quality of life in Hisua.
