In a subtle dig at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Legislative Council member, Sunil Kumar Singh, remarked that his family has metaphorically thrown the Chief Minister’s picture “into the garage” following Kumar’s recent contentious comments on women’s education.
Accompanied by a photo of himself and his wife standing before a portrait of RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav, Sunil Singh shared on social media, “The picture of the one who gave me an identity, the name is there above my head.”
Expanding on his post, he added, “I had another portrait of somebody who somehow manages to hold the helm of the state. But after sharing his divine and supernatural knowledge that day, my family members threw his photo in the garage.”
Sunil Singh’s apparent reference was to Nitish Kumar’s controversial remarks made on November 8 inside the Bihar Assembly, advocating for women’s education as a means to control the population.
When approached by India Today TV, Singh clarified that his Facebook post was misconstrued and declined further comments. He asserted that the post was intended for someone else.
Singh had previously posted on Facebook, condemning the choice of words by Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar. Although the posts didn’t explicitly name Nitish Kumar, the context left no doubt that Singh was directing his criticism towards the Chief Minister. RJD and JD(U) are coalition partners in Bihar.
The relationship between Nitish Kumar and Sunil Singh turned sour after Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah, leading to public disagreements between them in the state legislature.
