Patna, Bihar – The government has provided significant relief to appointed teachers in Bihar. Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary stated that the government is seriously considering the demands of appointed teachers. Chaudhary mentioned that the main concern of appointed teachers was related to online exams, especially for those accustomed to traditional methods. Now, the government has decided to not only continue online exams but also introduce offline exams, following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s advice. This means appointed teachers will have opportunities for both online and offline exams, totaling five chances.
Government Action Following Protests
On February 13, appointed teachers gathered at the Patna Vidhan Sabha to protest, leading to a commotion. In response, the new government has taken action. Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary addressed the matter, assuring teachers undergoing the government’s regularization process that their rights will be considered and a decision has been made. Chaudhary emphasized that the government had advised appointed teachers to remain patient, assuring them that their concerns would be addressed. Some organizations have even suspended their protests as the difficulties faced by the teachers have been resolved. The Education Minister highlighted visible improvements in the education sector, even in rural areas.
Bihar Board Exams from February 26
The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) is set to conduct competency exams from February 26, 2024, to March 13, 2024, to assess the proficiency of appointed teachers in Bihar. The purpose is to evaluate the talent of those appointed in the state. Since the announcement of the competency exams by the Bihar government, there has been opposition. Many teachers have not even applied in protest, claiming that the government is conspiring to remove them from their jobs. Today marks the last day to apply for the exam.
