The Cooperative Department has announced the recruitment of 969 various positions this year, with many positions undergoing the hiring process. The Bihar government provided this information in the legislative assembly. Additionally, construction of 460 warehouses is underway, and the computerization of 4477 packs is in progress in the first phase, followed by 1601 packs in the next phase.
Efforts are being made to bring district and regional offices under one roof by constructing cooperative buildings. Seventeen cooperative buildings have already been completed. In the year 2024-25, five cooperative buildings are expected to be completed. Under the National Agricultural Development Scheme, 474 rice mills have been established for food processing and value addition. Furthermore, agricultural plant banks will be set up in 100 packs, and 103 packs will have health centers.
In the financial year 2024-25, a budget proposal of ₹1,209.36 crores for the Cooperative Department’s expenditure has been presented. This includes ₹962.42 crores for schemes and ₹246.94 crores for establishment and committed expenses.
The recruitment process involves positions such as clerks, accountants, 13 assistant directors, five district auditors, nine low-level clerks, and office directors, with a total of 255 auditors being appointed. Additionally, seven assistant directors, along with 133 low-level clerks, are in the recruitment process.
The Bihar State Warehousing Corporation has 69 ongoing recruitments for various positions. In committees formed at three levels under the Bihar State Vegetable Processing and Marketing Plan, a total of 478 individuals will be appointed.
As of January 16, cooperative banks have distributed ₹150 crores in farmer credit card loans to 48,787 farmers. Common service centers have been established in 5,661 packs, and the establishment of more centers is expected in the remaining period of 2024-25.
