New Delhi: On the eve of the Winter Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his views on the BJP’s triumph in the recent state elections of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. The Prime Minister asserted that the election results were promising for those dedicated to serving the people.
Having secured victory in Madhya Pradesh and successfully transitioning state legislatures from Congress in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, PM Modi remarked, “When there is good governance, the term anti-incumbency becomes irrelevant.” He took a dig at the opposition, particularly the Congress, urging them to adopt a positive approach and conduct constructive debates during Parliament sessions.
Expressing the importance of opposition in democracy, PM Modi highlighted the need for a cooperative and capable opposition. He emphasized that fostering an image of positivity, rather than hatred and negativity, would benefit the democratic process.
The Winter Session of Parliament commences today, and the government’s legislative agenda includes 21 bills, covering crucial areas such as the replacement of the IPC, the Indian Evidence Act, and the CrPC.
As the political temperature rises with the delayed onset of winter, the opening day may witness intense discussions and clashes between the government and opposition benches. The Ethics Committee’s report on the ‘cash-for-query’ allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra is scheduled to be presented on the first day of the session.
The government, aiming for a smooth session, held an all-party meeting to discuss the agenda and facilitate cooperation among various political parties. The Winter Session is slated to have 15 sittings, spanning from December 4th to December 22nd, addressing key legislative matters.
