In a significant development for the state of Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann extended his heartfelt appreciation to Governor Banwarilal Purohit for giving assent to three crucial bills that were previously passed by the state assembly in November 2023. These pivotal bills include the Transfer of Property (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2023, the Registration (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Indian Stamp (Punjab Amendment) Bill, 2023.
Announcing this positive development on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Mann conveyed his thanks to Governor Purohit, underlining the bills’ pro-Punjab orientation. These legislative measures were initially approved during a comprehensive two-day session of the Punjab Assembly on November 29, 2023.
The Chief Minister expressed his optimism regarding the potential approval of more bills that align with Punjab’s interests. It is noteworthy that Governor Purohit had recently given his assent to the Punjab Vigilance Commission (Repeal) Bill, 2022, a move aimed at dissolving the state vigilance commission.
Mann further highlighted the anticipation surrounding three critical bills – the Sikh Gurdwaras (Amendment) Bill, 2023, the Punjab Universities Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Punjab Police (Amendment) Bill, 2023 – which are currently under consideration by the President.
The recent approval of these bills adds a positive chapter to the often contentious relationship between the AAP government and Raj Bhawan, signifying progress in resolving key legislative issues.
