Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh, part of the celebrity ensemble endorsing tourism on Indian islands, faced a brief hiccup when he inadvertently shared an image from the Maldives instead of Lakshadweep. In his now-deleted tweet on Sunday, Ranveer encouraged exploring Indian islands but attached a picture from Maldives.
Twitter users promptly highlighted the mistake, questioning the authenticity of promoting Indian islands with an image from a foreign location. After acknowledging the error, Ranveer deleted the post and re-shared it without the image, ensuring a correction in the promotional message.
The incident sparked reactions on social media, with users humorously noting that once something is on the internet, it stays there. Despite the blunder, Ranveer received both lighthearted and critical comments from the online community.
Bollywood celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, and John Abraham, have actively participated in the ‘visit Lakshadweep campaign’ using the hashtag ExploreIndianIslands.
Notably, PM Modi’s recent visit to Lakshadweep on January 2 also contributed to the campaign, where he shared pictures of his experiences, including attempting snorkeling.
Ranveer Singh’s upcoming projects include Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again,” Farhan Akhtar’s “Don 3,” and S Shankar’s next directorial venture.
