In the midst of a heated debate surrounding a poem titled “Thakur Ka Kuan,” former Member of Parliament Anand Mohan, who has a history as a don-turned-politician, met with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday. While the details of their discussion have not been officially disclosed, it is believed that Anand provided a “clarification” of his recent actions to the Chief Minister, as per sources from the JD(U).

Anand Mohan had recently been released from prison after the Bihar government amended the Bihar Prison Manual, 2012. He had been serving a life sentence for the murder of IAS officer and former Gopalganj District Magistrate G Krishnaiah.

Reportedly, during the meeting, Anand explained to the Chief Minister that his statements were made in consideration of the sentiments of his community. His son, Chetan Anand Singh, who is an RJD legislator from Sheohar, expressed his inability to provide further details on the meeting, citing his current location in Haridwar.

This meeting holds significant political importance, given the recent controversy that threatened to escalate into a dispute between Rajputs and Brahmins. Anand Mohan had openly issued threats to RJD Member of Parliament Manoj Jha after Jha read out the poem “Thakur Ka Kuan” during a debate on the Women’s Reservation Bill in the Rajya Sabha. The recital of this poem ignited intense political discussions in the state, with both Anand and his legislator son strongly opposing RJD MP Jha.

RJD Chief Lalu Prasad had criticized Anand’s actions, underscoring Anand’s position within the Grand Alliance. Consequently, their meeting assumes significance as it precedes the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Following the meeting with Anand Mohan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited his deputy and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav at the residence of Tejashwi’s mother, Rabri Devi. During their 15-minute meeting, they reportedly discussed crucial issues, primarily related to the recent caste survey.

A spokesperson from the RJD clarified that they were not associated with Anand Mohan and suggested that the meeting revolved around significant matters that would be revealed soon, with the recent caste survey being a central topic of discussion.
