In a significant development, the infamous Indian-wanted terrorist mastermind, Shahid Latif, has been assassinated in Sialkot, Pakistan. Reports from Pakistani media suggest that unidentified assailants in Sialkot have eliminated the terrorist Shahid Latif by gunfire.

Shahid Latif, a key figure in the world of terrorism, was listed as one of India’s most wanted terrorists. His dark legacy is deeply entwined with the notorious Pathankot terror attack.

It’s worth noting that Shahid Latif, who was handed over to Pakistan under the aegis of the Confidence-Building Measures in 2010 by the Indian government, later played a pivotal role in orchestrating the Pathankot attack. The gesture was part of India’s efforts to improve relations with Pakistan during the Congress government.

The 47-year-old terrorist Shahid Latif was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, and Jaish-e-Mohammad, making him a part of the 25 terrorists released from Indian prisons during the Confidence-Building Measures. Shahid Latif hailed from the Mor village in Aminabad Kasba, Gujranwala, Pakistan, and his responsibility in India was to recruit terrorists for Jaish-e-Mohammad.

In orchestrating the Pathankot attack, Shahid Latif had coordinated with four Jaish-e-Mohammad militants, sending them to Pathankot with a mission to carry out the attack.

Shahid Latif had faced charges of unlawful activities under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in India, leading to his arrest in 1994. After serving a significant prison term in India, he was repatriated to Pakistan via the Wagah border in 2010.

It’s important to note that Shahid Latif was also accused of the hijacking of an Indian Airlines plane in 1999.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigation revealed that Latif, after his release in 2010, had returned to the jihadist factory in Pakistan, earning him a place on India’s wanted terrorist list.

Please stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
