In a scathing rebuke, Union Minister Piyush Goyal expressed his deep concern regarding senior leader Sharad Pawar’s recent remarks on India’s stance toward a terror attack in Israel. Goyal found it “very disturbing” that such “preposterous statements” were made by a prominent figure.

Sharad Pawar, the Chief of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), had asserted that India had consistently supported the Palestinian cause. Taking to the platform formerly known as Twitter (now X), Piyush Goyal emphasized the need to condemn terrorism unequivocally, irrespective of its location in the world. He lamented that a person who has held significant positions like India’s Defense Minister and Chief Minister several times could adopt such a casual viewpoint on terror-related matters.

Goyal underscored the irony that Sharad Pawar had been part of a government that exhibited emotions over the Batla House encounter and remained passive during terrorist attacks on Indian soil. He urged a shift in this “rotten mindset” and hoped that Pawar would prioritize the nation’s interests.

Pawar’s comments came in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing solidarity with Israel and condemning the terrorist actions perpetrated by Hamas.
