San Francisco– Renowned billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, the proprietor of the prominent social media platform formerly known as Twitter, is currently deliberating the potential removal of this service from European territories in response to stringent regulations introduced in the region. This development was reported by the news site Insider on Wednesday.

According to an insider familiar with the matter, Musk has engaged in discussions about either discontinuing the availability of the X app in Europe or restricting access for users residing within the European Union. The driving force behind this consideration is the European Union’s adoption of the Digital Services Act (DSA) in August, which outlines a comprehensive set of rules aimed at curtailing the dissemination of harmful content, restricting or eliminating specific user-targeting practices, and mandating the sharing of internal data with regulatory bodies and affiliated researchers, among other provisions.

As of the time of this report, X has not provided an official response to a request for comment made by Reuters.

This marks the first instance in which Elon Musk has contemplated the removal of the X platform from the European Union as a direct response to the formidable digital legislation enforced in the region.
