Head’s possible return to Australia’s World Cup squad against the Netherlands has garnered significant attention, with Coach Andrew McDonald expressing optimism about the talented batsman’s comeback. Head, who endured a fractured left hand during Australia’s South Africa tour recently, had to sit out the team’s initial four World Cup matches in India.

McDonald conveyed that the decision regarding Head’s participation will be contingent upon his post-training recovery assessment later today. “We’re genuinely hopeful that he’ll be available, provided today’s proceedings transpire smoothly, and, most crucially, the way he responds tomorrow will play a pivotal role,” McDonald articulated to the press.

Moreover, McDonald emphasized the remarkable dedication Head has exhibited in his recuperation journey.

In the event of Head’s return, it is widely speculated that Marnus Labuschagne might make way for him in the upcoming match scheduled for Wednesday at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. Nonetheless, McDonald emphasized that this decision is not set in stone. “We’ll adopt a wait-and-see approach to assess the scenario concerning the Netherlands, assuming Head is deemed fit,” he added.

Australia currently occupies the fourth position in the World Cup standings, making Head’s potential comeback a significant development in the tournament.
