Veteran actor Neena Gupta, known for her outspoken views, recently shared her perspective on feminism, emphasizing the importance of financial independence over a blind pursuit of equality with men.
In a conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Neena expressed that embracing ‘faltu feminism’ or the notion of ‘women being equal to men’ isn’t obligatory. Instead, she advocated for women to concentrate on achieving financial independence and to value their work. Neena’s candid statements included encouragement for housewives, urging them not to belittle their role and to boost self-esteem.
Reflecting on her career, Neena recalled facing challenges after the success of ‘Saath Saath’ in 1982, where she was typecast into specific roles. Despite hurdles, she commended director Amit Sharma for bringing out her best performance, noting that focusing on work with dedication is key.
