The Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) on black money is set to present its eighth interim report to the apex court, according to Justice (Retired) Arijit Pasayat, the panel’s vice-chairman. This development follows the government’s approval of the SIT’s establishment in May 2014 during the first cabinet meeting of the Narendra Modi government, complying with the Supreme Court’s directive. Over the last nine years, the SIT has submitted seven interim reports to the apex court.

Justice Pasayat convened a meeting at his residence with officials from Income Tax, Enforcement Directorate, Customs and Excise, and Central Board of Indirect Tax departments. The discussions, spanning over two hours, focused on strategies for detecting and curtailing the generation of black money within India and abroad.
