Jerusalem— In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, two Palestinian gunmen, identified as Murad Nimr, 38, and Ibrahim Nimr, 30, opened fire near a bus stop on the outskirts of Jerusalem. The assailants, affiliated with the Hamas group in Gaza, killed at least three people before being neutralized by two off-duty soldiers and an armed civilian.

The Israeli police reported that the gunmen were armed with an M16 rifle and a handgun. Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency service, confirmed at least six people wounded in the attack, with three victims in serious condition, currently receiving treatment at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center.

Both Murad Nimr and Ibrahim Nimr had a history of “terrorist activity” and were Palestinian brothers from East Jerusalem, according to Israel’s Shin Bet security service. The tragic incident occurred amid a fragile truce between Hamas and Israel, recently extended in Gaza.

Hamas has not yet commented on the shooting. The international community closely watches the evolving situation as tensions persist in the region.
