The Election Commission of India is set to announce the final results for all five states on December 3. Chhattisgarh, having conducted polls in two phases, stands as the only state where the BJP and Congress are in a heated battle for supremacy.

In 2018, Congress had secured a commanding victory with 51 seats, while BJP lagged behind with only 13. The predictions back then had varied significantly, but the actual results favored Congress with 68 seats.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel leads the Congress government in Chhattisgarh and aims to retain power. Conversely, the BJP, aiming to reclaim the throne, is putting up a fierce competition.

With voter turnout at 76.31%, compared to the 2018 figure of 76.88%, a satisfactory participation has been observed in the 2023 assembly polls. Notable candidates include CM Bhupesh Baghel, Deputy CM TS Singh Deo, and Assembly Speaker Charan Das Mahant.
