The India Global Forum’s Middle East and Africa 2023 concluded with the insightful Climate for Business Forum in Dubai. The ClimB Forum, held strategically on the eve of the COP28 Summit, delved into climate leadership, clean energy, policy strategies, and green financing for sustainable economic growth.

India’s Environment Minister, Bhupender Yadav, emphasized climate justice ahead of COP28, stating, “When we talk about climate change, we must talk about climate justice also.” He called for fulfilling the unmet funding promises by developed countries and highlighted the significance of the Global Stocktake and the Global Goal on Adaptation.

Commonwealth Secretary-General Rt Hon Patricia Scotland underscored the existential threat of climate change to vulnerable nations. Urging urgency and action similar to the response to Covid, she emphasized the personal and profound impact of climate change on lives, livelihoods, and entire countries.

Throughout the day, the challenges of climate financing and discrimination faced by developing countries were recurrent themes. Business leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders from India, UAE, and Africa participated in discussions covering trade, investment, innovation, technology, and sustainability.
