New Delhi,Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, attending the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) Summit in Dubai, was greeted with a warm welcome by members of the Indian diaspora. As he arrived at a hotel in Dubai, the diaspora expressed their happiness and support for PM Modi’s visit, chanting slogans like ‘Modi, Modi,’ ‘Abki Baar Modi Sarkar,’ and ‘Vande Mataram.’ The welcoming crowd also presented a cultural dance performance.
PM Modi, acknowledging the enthusiastic reception, tweeted, “Deeply moved by the warm welcome from the Indian community in Dubai. Their support and enthusiasm are a testament to our vibrant culture and strong bonds.”
During his three-hour stay in Qatar, PM Modi focused on discussions regarding the release of German hostages held by Hamas. In an interview with UAE newspaper Al-Ittihad, he expressed optimism about COP28 injecting fresh momentum into effective climate action. He emphasized India and the UAE’s joint efforts in addressing climate change and hoped for credible progress on the New Collective Quantified Goal on Climate Finance.
