Parliament Winter Session 2023: ‘Govt fully ready for structured debate,’ says Pralhad Joshi. Check list of bills here

In anticipation of the upcoming winter session of Parliament, Pralhad Joshi, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, assured that the government is fully prepared for a structured debate. Joshi emphasized the importance of maintaining an atmosphere conducive to discussions, urging the opposition to cooperate for the smooth functioning of the House.

All-Party Meeting Highlights:

– An all-party meeting chaired by Pralhad Joshi was held at the Parliament Library building.

– Representatives from 23 parties and 30 leaders attended the meeting.

– Discussions included the request for maintaining an environment for structured debates following parliamentary rules and procedures.

Key Points:

– The winter session is scheduled to commence from December 4, with a total of 15 sittings.

– Zero hour proceedings have been occurring regularly.

– The government expressed readiness for discussions on all issues and affirmed its commitment to a structured debate.

The list of bills likely to be taken up during the session includes:

1. The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023

2. The Advocates (Amendment) Bill, 2023

3. The Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill, 2023

4. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill 2023

5. The Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill 2023

6. The Bharatiya Sakshya Bill 2023

 

Financial Business:

– Presentation, discussion, and voting on the first batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2023-24.

– Presentation, discussion, and voting on demands for excess grants for the year 2020-21.

The winter session is set to take place in the newly inaugurated Parliament building, unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September.
