Gandhinagar: Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd, stated at the convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) that India, currently the world’s third-largest energy consumer, is expected to witness a doubling of its energy needs by the end of this decade. Ambani projected that the Indian economy would burgeon into a USD 40 trillion economy by 2047, up from the current USD 3.5 trillion.

Ambani emphasized the imperative for vast amounts of clean and green energy to fuel this growth without harming the environment. He outlined the nation’s energy requirement doubling by the end of the decade.

Reliance Industries, under Ambani’s leadership, is actively transitioning from fossil-fuel-dominated operations to clean energy. The conglomerate is investing substantial amounts in building giga factories for new energy ecosystems, renewable energy generation, and green hydrogen production.

Addressing the convocation, Ambani highlighted the unprecedented economic growth expected in India over the next 25 years. He posed three crucial questions regarding India’s energy goals: ensuring universal access to affordable energy, transitioning rapidly to clean energy, and mitigating economic risks from external volatility. Ambani termed these questions the “Energy Trilemma.”

Ambani expressed confidence in India’s ability to develop smart and sustainable solutions to address the Energy Trilemma, crediting the country’s talented youth committed to combating the climate crisis.

In advice to the graduating students, Ambani encouraged fearlessness, disciplined pursuit of dreams, curiosity, and a hunger for knowledge. He underscored the importance of empathy, discipline, and patriotism, urging students to contribute to the greatness and glory of India.
