As the Winter Session of Parliament looms, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Pralhad Joshi, issued a stark warning to the Opposition, asserting that any disruption would result in “worse consequences” for them. The Minister emphasized the need for structured debates following rules and procedures during the upcoming session, scheduled from December 4 to December 22.

The Winter Session is anticipated to be contentious, featuring reports from the Ethics Committee on ‘cash-for-query’ allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra and pivotal bills aiming to replace the IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act.

In an all-party meeting held on Saturday, Joshi urged opposition parties to foster an “enabling environment.” Tensions ran high during the meeting, with TMC leaders expressing dissatisfaction over the alleged premature leak of the Ethics Committee’s report against Moitra.

The central government, ready to address all issues, has highlighted the importance of maintaining a conducive atmosphere for debates. The Minister disclosed that 19 bills and two financial items are on the agenda for the upcoming parliamentary session.
