Chandigarh, In a tale of love transcending borders, Javeria Khanum, a resident of Karachi, undertook a significant journey across the Wagah-Attari International Border to embark on her marital journey with Sameer Khan, a Kolkata resident. The couple, who have been eagerly awaiting their union, faced numerous challenges, including two previous visa rejections and the disruptive impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. Javeria, granted a 45-day visa, arrived at Attari in Amritsar district, where she was warmly welcomed by Sameer Khan and his family amidst the spirited beats of ‘dhol’.

Expressing their joy and gratitude, the couple shared their excitement with reporters at Attari. Javeria conveyed, “I am very happy to be here. In the first week of January, the marriage will be solemnized.” Despite facing setbacks with visa rejections in the past and the hurdles imposed by the global pandemic, the couple is now on the path to a joyous beginning.

Sameer Khan, narrating the story of their connection, stated, “This started in May 2018 when I had come home from Germany, where I was studying. I saw her photo on my mother’s phone and expressed my interest. I told my mother that I want to get married to Javeria.” The journey to this point was marked by twists and turns, including two visa rejections, and the intervening Covid pandemic. Sameer expressed gratitude to the Indian Government for granting the visa, enabling this long-awaited union.

The couple, whose marriage is scheduled for January next year, expressed their appreciation for the warm reception they received on the Indian side. They left Attari to catch a flight from Amritsar to Kolkata, marking the next chapter in their cross-border love story.
