New Delhi:On the fourth day of the Winter Session of Parliament, Home Minister Amit Shah is set to move the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passage. These bills were successfully passed in the Lok Sabha on the preceding day.

The Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 aims to modify the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act, 2004, while the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 focuses on amendments to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

According to news agency ANI, discussions on the “Economic Situation in the country,” initiated by Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien on December 5, are expected to continue in the Rajya Sabha.

In addition, BJP MPs Anil Jain and Neeraj Shekhar will present the 249th and 250th reports (in English and Hindi) of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs in the Rajya Sabha.

BJP MP Chhedi Paswan will lay the Statements of the Committee on the Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (2023-24).

Women TMC MPs plan to stage a protest at the Parliament complex against Union Minister Giriraj Singh’s comments targeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Recapping Day 3, the Lok Sabha passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2023. Home Minister Amit Shah, during the debate, attributed Article 370 as the root cause of terrorism, leading to political tensions and an Opposition walkout.
