Lucknow, Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) functionary IP Singh has strongly condemned DMK MP DNV Senthilkumar’s remarks on Hinduism, demanding the implementation of a strict law to safeguard the dignity of the religion. While many INDIA bloc members remain silent on Senthilkumar’s comments, Singh, hailing from Azamgarh, took to social media to express his disapproval.

Senthilkumar’s statement in the Lok Sabha, referring to BJP’s victories in Hindi heartland states as “gaumutra” (cow urine) states, stirred controversy. Despite later apologizing for the inappropriate use of words, Singh criticized the continuous attacks on Hindu religion by DMK leaders.

Singh asserted that a stringent law is necessary to prevent the mockery of Hindu faith and urged DMK leaders to clarify their stance on Hinduism. He emphasized the need for protection against insults to the religion, stating that the dignity of Hinduism would be compromised without such legal measures.

This is not the first time a DMK politician has faced criticism for objectionable comments on Hinduism. Singh had previously objected to similar remarks by Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, who had blamed Sanatan Dharma for promoting division and discrimination.

Singh, known for his vocal stance against comments disrespecting religious beliefs, emphasized the importance of safeguarding the religious sentiments of the majority Hindu population. He called for a reevaluation of such statements, regardless of the individual’s political affiliations.

In September, Singh had voiced objections to Swami Prasad Maurya’s comments within his own party, highlighting the need to respect the religious beliefs of the country’s Hindu majority.
