In a recent update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dense fog is anticipated to envelop most parts of Bihar over the next two days. A ‘Yellow’ alert has been issued, indicating a warning to ‘be aware’ due to the forecast for moderate to dense fog. The alert is effective until 8:30 am on December 10.
The fog is expected to affect 33 districts in Bihar, with exceptions for Khagaria, Bhagalpur, Munger, Banka, and Jamuni. The categorization of fog by the IMD includes ‘very dense,’ ‘dense,’ ‘moderate,’ and ‘shallow’ based on visibility levels.
Rains in several Bihar districts, influenced by Cyclone Michaung, contributed to the likelihood of dense fog. The weather forecast indicates the possibility of light rain or snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir from December 12 to 15. Until December 11, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy but mainly dry, with a drop in night temperatures.
Meanwhile, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 9.4 degrees Celsius and a maximum temperature of 25.7 degrees Celsius. The IMD predicts a mainly clear sky with mist or shallow fog in the morning, with similar conditions until December 12, and no rainfall expected in Delhi until then.
In addition, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala and Tamil Nadu on December 9, as per the IMD Chennai. Thunderstorms and lightning are also anticipated in specific areas.
