In a bid to enhance tourist visits and stimulate economic growth, Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism considers granting free entry visas to travelers from 20 countries, including India. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, highlighted that the move aims to attract quality tourists, fostering longer stays and higher spending in the local economy.

The list of countries proposed for free entry visas comprises Australia, China, India, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and more, as reported by Reuters.

Following the global trend, Malaysia recently announced visa-free entry for Chinese and Indian nationals, demonstrating a strategic move to boost tourism. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that citizens of China and India can enjoy visa-free entry for up to 30 days starting December 1, contributing to Malaysia’s tourism recovery.

Thailand, a neighboring country heavily reliant on tourism, extended its visa-free entry for travelers from India and Taiwan until May 2024. The decision aims to support the tourism sector, which witnessed 22 million visitors and generated 927.5 billion baht in revenue between January and October 2023.
