In a dramatic turn of events, Mohan Yadav, a three-time MLA from Ujjain, has been declared the next Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The decision, announced today, concludes days of speculation and suspense.

Yadav, aged 58, served as a minister in the previous government led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Alongside him, Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla have been appointed as deputy chief ministers, while former minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who contested in the state polls, is set to become the Speaker.

A video from the BJP meeting captures former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan presenting a bouquet to CM-designate Mohan Yadav, symbolizing the party’s endorsement of the decision.

Expressing gratitude, Yadav stated, “I am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership, and the central leadership. With your love and support, I will try to fulfill my responsibilities.”

In an exclusive statement to India Today, Yadav extended his thanks to key BJP figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and party President JP Nadda.

Mohan Yadav: A Profile

Mohan Yadav’s political journey commenced with his election as an MLA in 2013, followed by a successful re-election in the 2018 Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly polls. He assumed the role of a cabinet minister in Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s government on July 2, 2020.

Born on March 25, 1965, in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, Yadav’s association with the BJP spans several years. Besides his political endeavors, he is recognized as a businessman.

In the recent 2023 Madhya Pradesh Assembly election, Yadav secured victory in the Ujjain South constituency, marking his third consecutive term as an MLA. The constituency, part of the Malwa North region, has remained a stronghold for the BJP since 2003.
