A day after the BJP elected Mohan Yadav as Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, the Congress raised concerns about his suitability, alleging serious allegations, including “large-scale manipulation” in the Ujjain Master Plan.
Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh accused Yadav of benefiting from changes in the land-use pattern in the Ujjain Master Plan and highlighted a controversial land parcel, originally reserved for Simhastha Mela, allegedly de-reserved for residential use.
Ramesh also referred to viral videos on social media where Yadav is heard using profanities, questioning if this is ‘Modi’s guarantee’ for Madhya Pradesh.
In a surprising move, the BJP announced Mohan Yadav as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. The OBC leader and three-time BJP MLA from Ujjain South has a 30-year association with the party. Known for his aggressive stance on Hindutva, he previously served as the higher education minister of Madhya Pradesh.
The announcement, catching many off guard, concluded days of suspense over the Chief Minister’s name. Yadav, recognized for his work on Hindutva and addressing the issue of Bangladeshi infiltration, touched upon the feet of senior BJP leaders after his appointment.
The Congress, however, expressed skepticism, pointing to alleged irregularities in the Ujjain Master Plan and controversial land dealings. The surprise announcement of Yadav as Chief Minister stirred debates, with questions raised about the selection process and its implications for Madhya Pradesh.
